The Art Gallery is housed in the old building of the town’s primary school, built in 1909-1910. In the 1970s the City Council started collecting paintings, whose storylines and themes were directly related to the landscape and history of the region. As a result, their collection gradually increased and currently consists of nearly 1 000 works, most of which donated from sponsors and artists. The gallery organizes annual workshops and ateliers for young and renowned artists. It is named after the great Bulgarian graphics artist Hristo Gradechliev.
